WISDP Member Professional Development Trip to Jiangmen Xinhui – “Intangible Cultural Heritage × Green Industry”
To further promote the practise of sustainable development planning by corporates, the World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners (WISDP), supported by the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development (HiESD), organized the “WISDP Member Professional Development Trip to Jiangmen Xinhui – “Intangible Cultural Heritage × Green Industry” on June 21, 2025. Through sustainable development themed visits, participants gained in-depth insights into how Hong Kong enterprises are implementing sustainable development practices—integrating net-zero innovation solutions with cultural heritage preservation—at their production bases in the Greater Bay Area.

With the theme of “Net Zero Demonstration,” the trip was led by experts including Professor Karen Cheung, President of the UNESCO Hong Kong Association, Director of HiESD, and President of WISDP, as well as Ir. Ho Chi Shing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency and Senior Fellow of WISDP (SFwiSDP). Participants visited two Recognized Sustainable Development Corporations (RSDC): Guangdong Yixiang Chenpi Co., Ltd. and Lee Kum Kee (Xin Hui) Food Co., Ltd.

The two enterprises showcased their Net Zero practices from different aspects.
Lee Kum Kee (Xin Hui) Food Co., Ltd. implemented a comprehensive low-carbon transformation across its entire facility and production processes. Innovations such as the ECO Park, an artificial wetland for scientific and natural wastewater treatment, and afforestation projects in the manufacturing plant area demonstrated its commitment to becoming a “Net Zero Corporation“
Guangdong Yixiang Chenpi Co., Ltd. focused on product-level sustainability by calculating the carbon footprint across the entire lifecycle—from cultivation, processing, and intangible cultural heritage techniques to storage and transportation—achieving “Net-Zero Chenpi” as a model for sustainable products.

The professional development trip concluded with a roundtable discussion, fostering professional exchanges and inspiring participants to reflect on sustainable planning practices and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies. Attendees of the discussion included Senior Fellows (SFwiSDP), Fellows (FwiSDP), and Certified Sustainable Development Planners (CSDP) from WISDP, as well as students of HiESD’s courses and Green Citizen Youth Ambassadors (GCYA) from the UNESCO Hong Kong Association.
