2023 Hong Kong Sustainable Development Innovation Technology Awards Highlights

Enquiry: event@wisdp.org / (852) 3480 2013
INTRODUCTION
In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), calling on every stakeholder across the globe to promote the sustainable transformation of society in a collaborative effort. The application of innovation and technology plays a key role in this transformation process, in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, notably SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Innovation and technology also provide game-changing opportunities and methods to achieve the other Sustainable Development Goals.
The “2025 Hong Kong Sustainable Development Innovation Technology Awards” is organised by the World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners, supported by the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development and the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency. It is also funded by the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) and sponsored by Arte Moda International Enterprises. These awards aim to recognize and reward organisations and talents across various industries who integrate sustainability concepts into innovative technologies within their development, planning, application, and solutions.
The “2023 Hong Kong Sustainable Development Innovation Technology Awards” (see more) was the inaugural event, covering three major aspects: economy, society, and environment, across nine categories. The first event received strong support from all sectors of society, with 66 companies participating and over 140 projects submitted. In 2025, we will continue with the second event, covering the same three major aspects and, based on feedback from the first event, adding three new categories: “Green Energy Innovation and Technology,” “Green Supply Chain Innovation and Technology,” and “Quality Education Innovation and Technology.” This brings the total to twelve categories for the “Organisation Awards” and “Talent Awards,” with a total of 61 awards. We hope that organisations and talents across different industries will actively showcase their achievements in I&T and the process of practicing sustainable development.
The sustainable development innovation and technology solutions proposed by the awarded organisations of the inaugural event have been compiled into an e-book titled “Sustainable Development Innovation & Technology Solutions Report”. This e-book has been released globally through our website and other online platforms. We will continue to present and introduce the “Report” to representatives from around the world at various platforms and events, such as the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), to showcase the achievements and contributions of Hong Kong organisations in I&T development and sustainable development.
The “2025 Hong Kong Sustainable Development Innovation Technology Awards,” like the previous event, will compile the sustainable development I&T solutions of the awarded organisations into a second volume of the e-book “Sustainable Development Innovation & Technology Solutions Report” to share Hong Kong’s experience in sustainable I&T development globally and continue to tell Hong Kong’s story.
